My first foray as a curator opens on May 7, 2015 at the Martyr Sauce Gallery.  It’s a group show idea I’ve been batting around almost since I moved to Seattle.  It’s obvious why landscape photography is big in the Pacific NW, no one will disagree that this part of the country is blessed with…

I’m excited to announce the opening of my show Presence and Absence at the Threshold Gallery at Mithun on August 7, 2014.  The show will be up until September 30, 2014. You can also view all the images in the show under ‘Presence and Absence.’

Social media often gets a bad rap as a necessary evil, but thanks – specifically to Twitter – I have discovered a global film photography community I couldn’t have engaged with otherwise.  Not sure how I stumbled upon this group of film fanatics, the Film Shooters Collective, but between Tumblr and FB we came together…

Irish Cows

I discovered today that one of my photos received an ‘Honorable Mention’ at the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (PX3) ‘Altered Images’ competition.  Once again, I’m fascinated by what image the judges chose.  The joy/pain of a jury show is the selection process can be so subjective. Downtown Oakland – Part 1: Street Art Edition A few weeks ago I joined a great group of people for a walk through downtown Oakland in search of inspiring subject matter.  The overcast day meant some very gray light, but it didn’t ruin anyone’s enthusiasm…and the rain held off.  Thanks to Valerie for leading the…

Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking. – W. B. Yeats I recently saw a post from a fellow photog I follow on twitter who was agonizing over his lack of inspiration and loss of interest in photography in general.  As any creative person knows…we all…

I haven’t had the time lately to go out and shoot new work – so much for keeping up with The August Break folks.  I’m also having one of those ‘crises’ that any creative soul has from time to time where I’m looking at my photos with a totally subjective eye and thinking: Do I…
