“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.” Jean-Jacques Rousseau
I was all excited to return home and jump back into the August Break which I left when I went on my own August Break. I had taken in some film before I took off so I’d have something to start scanning and posting when I came back. I picked up my film and was really unimpressed with the results. The joy of playing with my Holga is that it’s all a learning experience. It means though I don’t have much to share and now must wait to get back my film from when I was on holiday. Cultivating patience is always a challenge for me, but it’s a challenge I’m also always open to.
In the meantime I’m sharing my one decent photo of where the former Gorky’s restaurant once was located. For those not from Los Angeles, Gorky’s was this great 24-hour cafe in the late 80s/early 90s located in downtown that attracted this wonderful funky mixture of artists, club kids, homeless people, hipsters and anyone who was looking for a place to eat at 2AM. It’s remembered fondly by those of us who frequented the place. At least they’ve kept the sign.
